Skinny Mom Question: Did the French really invent French toast?
Ingredients
- • 1 extra large egg
- • 1 egg white
- • 1 tsp sugar
- • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- • 3 slices whole-grain bread (look for brands with extra fiber)
- • 1/2 cup fresh fruit (strawberries, bananas, blueberries, or raspberries)
- • 2 tsp sugar-free or light syrup
Instructions
- Heat a skillet coated with cooking spray over medium-high heat.
- Crack egg and egg white into bowl and add sugar and cinnamon. Beat with a fork until yolk and cinnamon are well mixed.
- Dip bread into egg mixture and remove, letting excess mixture fall back into the bowl.
- Cook bread in skillet for about 3 minutes on each side.
- Remove bread from skillet and top with syrup and fruit.
