4th of July: Cocktails and Drinks for You and the Kids

Ingredients

  • Salute to the Flag Cocktail
  • 2 parts authentic grenadine
  • 2 parts blueberry martini mixer (look for Stirrings brand if available)
  • 2 parts vodka (you can also use flavored vodka)
  • Red, White, and Blue Explosion
  • Ice cubes
  • Cranberry Juice
  • Wild Berry flavored Gatorade Fierce
  • Diet 7-Up

Instructions

  1. Salute to the Flag Cocktail:
  2. Layer this shot/cocktail by adding grenadine first.
  3. Next, add the cold vodka by pouring very slowly off the back of a spoon.
  4. Finally, with a steady hand, add the blueberry mixer on top of vodka by pouring it off the back of a spoon. For extra fun, you can decorate the drink with a flag toothpick.
  5. Red, White and Blue Explosion:
  6. Fill a clear glass with the ice cubes.
  7. Pour the drink with the most sugar, in this case it is the cranberry juice about 1/3 of way full.
  8. Next, very carefully pour the beverage with the second least amount of sugar, in this case, the gatorade. Make sure to pour onto an ice cube very slowly or the two beverages will mix together.
  9. Finally, very slowly pour the Diet 7Up, using the same technique of pouring onto an ice cube. For extra fun, add an American Flag toothpick.
  10. Serve immediately! Your kids will love the fun colors of this drink and they should stay separated for a little while before mixing after being stirred.
