This recipe for Chocolate Protein Cone Cakes will definitely be a huge hit in any family, because you and your kids will love them! Not only do these individual cakes look adorable, but they taste delicious too. I originally found this recipe in a Hungry Girl cookbook and I adapted it to add a few more grams of protein to each cake cone by adding in some chocolate protein powder to the recipe.

Chocolate Protein Cone Cakes

Ingredients

    For Cone Cakes:
  • 12 cake cones
  • 1 cup moist-style chocolate cake mix, dry mix
  • 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
  • 3 egg whites
  • 2 tsp mini semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • For Topping:
  • 1 Jell-O Sugar Free double Chocolate Pudding Snack
  • 2 Tbsp chocolate frosting
  • 2 Tbsp rainbow sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine pudding and frosting, stirring until mixed well. Refrigerate until cakes are ready to be frosted.
  3. In a shaker, mix protein powder with ½ cup water until well mixed.
  4. Place cake mix in a large mixing bowl. Add protein powder mixture, chocolate chips, and egg whites, and whip batter with a whisk or fork for 2-3 minutes. Set aside.
  5. Find an area near the oven to assemble the cone cakes, so you do not have to move them very far. Check the bottom of the cones for uneven ridges, removing any so that cones can sit flat. Place each cone upright in a cup of a 12-cup muffin pan.
  6. Carefully spoon batter into cones until cones are a little more than halfway full. Allow cones to sit for a few minutes for batter to settle down into the bottom of the cones.
  7. Carefully transfer pan to the oven. Bake for 15-20 minutes.
  8. All cake cones to cool and then evenly distribute frosting mixture over the tops. Sprinkle each cake cone with the sprinkles and enjoy!
