I love making chili, especially during this time of year, nothing is better than a big bowl of hot chili on a cold snowy day! This chili recipe is one of my favorites as the sweet potatoes give the chili just enough sweetness and I love some heat in my chili, so the jalapenos add the perfect kick to this delicious recipe. Chili is a really big deal, here in Cincinnati, and when I found out that most of the recipes from around here call for cinnamon and or chocolate…yes, it is true, I decided to try a few recipes and come up with one of my own.

- 1 green bell pepper, chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, chopped
- 1 1/2 tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp ground oregano
- 1 tbsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 tsp black pepper

This is a great recipe! Very spicy and super yummy. You wouldn’t even know it was healthy.
I was wondering how much is a serving making this for the first time on Sunday and I can’t wait since I dont have the unsweetened cocoa powder what should I use instead..
Just made this for dinner….delicious!! one of my favorite chilli recipes now, can’t believe its healthy too. i omitted the jalepeno but added some cayenne pepper and paprika instead….also didn’t have the cocoa powder so used a square of Lindt’s 70% cocoa dark chocolate. served over brown rice with light creme fraiche and chives and a little bit of leftover feta i had. yum!
Am I missing somewhere where is says how many people this recipe serves? Anyone know?
What are you supposed to do with the browned turkey? Do you add to the crock pot? At what point??
