With all of the days to celebrate in a calendar year, today is perhaps one of the most important. Today is International Women’s Day! International Women’s Day is a celebration of the economic, political and social achievements of women past, present and future. While this day is not yet a globally recognized holiday, it most certainly should be. It is a day to reflect and recognize the amazing achievements of women throughout history from the demand for equal pay and voting rights led by the women of the  early 1900’s to the amazing accomplishments of the women of today who so eloquently balance work and family life. Skinnymom is a huge advocate of the celebration of women and their accomplishments. Be those accomplishments big or small, personal or professional they all help to build a strong platform from which the women of the future can stand in confidence and lead!

In celebration of International Women’s Day, Skinnymom is on the lookout for the “Woman of the Year”. Do you know an amazing woman? Is she the Superwoman of her household or the master of her boardroom? Does she do extraordinary things for others? Has she managed to accomplish more things in the past few months than most people do in a lifetime? Has her presence in your life led you on a journey you could have never taken without her? Then nominate her!

Skinnymom is looking for the most extraordinary “Woman of the Year”! The winner will receive a gift card along with a Skinnymom goody bag.

Here is what you need to do…  in 500 words or less, tell us why this woman should be named “Woman of the Year” and attach a photo and contact information. That’s it, we’ll do the rest!

Please send nominations to [email protected] by Monday, April 2, 2012 and the winner will be announced on Friday, April 6, 2012.

So c’mon, celebrate International Women’s Day properly… give some much needed recognition to the amazing woman in your life.
