Let’s Make a Deal

Do you ever feel like that as a mom you are never quite prepared?  It seems like no matter where we go or what circumstance we are in, I never have the perfect item for the situation.

For example, last week at church, my son had a runny nose, did I have a tissue?  I think not. On a whim, if we decide to play basketball outside, do I have a ponytail holder for my hair?  Again, no.  At the baseball tournament this past weekend, did I have sunscreen or bug spray? – nope, had to borrow from another parent.

Although my purse is most definitely big enough to hold many items, I wish I could be more prepared and actually have the things I might need. Reminds me of the old game show Let’s Make A Deal, where the host would pay people for random items in their purse. These contestants would have to think ahead and try to have every possible item at the ready. I want to be more like that!  I want to be the type of mom that has the sunscreen that everybody else has to borrow (because they forgot theirs) or the mom that has a tissue handy so my son doesn’t have to use his shirt sleeve- (okay, please tell me that I am not the only one this has happened to)!

So, I want to know, are you the type of mom that has everything you might possibly need in any given situation?  Or are you always desperately searching for something at the bottom of your purse only to realize that it is still lying on the counter at home?

Also, I would love to get a list of items that need to be in your purse at all times.  Here’s mine:

  • gum
  • mints
  • tweezers
  • chap stick (several types)
  •  ink pen
  •  sunglasse
  • and the obvious (money, credit/debit cards, id)
