So, when I saw the “cookbook”, The ARTISAN SODA Workshop and most of the ingredients were all natural ingredients, I had to give it a try. Well at first glance, I was very pleased. Almost every recipe in the book is made of natural, healthy ingredients. Some of them do call for refined sugar, but at the beginning of the book it talks about sugar alternatives. Coconut palm sugar and agave syrup are both natural sugar alternatives that I already use in my kitchen – BONUS!
The very first recipe is for a drink they call “Natural Golden Cola Syrup”. It mentions at the end of the recipe that with adding a little bit of maraschino cherry liquid, this drink taste similar to Dr. Pepper. What? Are you serious? I can have a healthier version of Dr. Pepper – Get out of here!!!!
So my niece, Macy came over and we decided to give it a try. The recipe was very easy to follow and not too time consuming. Now, that is my kind of recipe. Although, the drink did not taste exactly like Dr. Pepper; it was a very refreshing taste and we all enjoyed it.
I can’t wait to try more of these new and exciting drinks, especially some of the adult beverages in the last part of the book.
So, if you are looking for a new twist on your traditional soda or if you are looking for a healthier drink for your kids to enjoy, I would recommend that you pick up a copy of this book.
