I just returned from Toronto, Canada after competing in my very first Pro WBFF show! It was so much fun!!! The show was aired live online pay per view. I felt like a rock star or a Victoria’s Secret model on the runway. They had lights, music, smoke, and cameras everywhere! It was truly quite an event!
In all, over 500 pro and amateur athletes came to compete from all around the world. Korea, Germany, South Africa, USA, Canada, & England…..just to mention a few places! The promos for the show were titled “The Beautiful People” and believe me that was exactly what and who you saw everywhere!
My category was the Pro Fitness Diva Model. We had 43 gorgeous and fit women on stage. I did not place in the top ten, but I am not upset about that at all! Just to be up there with all those amazing women was quite an honor. I could be some of those youngsters’ mother, so holding my own against girls in their 20’s, with no babies, makes me pretty proud!
I was able to visit with old friends and make lots of new ones. This is my favorite part of competing! I get to meet so many interesting people who I would have never come in to contact with. I honestly have made some lifelong friends at these shows. That is way better than any trophy. I reached a goal to compete as a pro, and I brought my best physique with confidence to that stage! I couldn’t ask for more!
Here is a quote from one of my favorite inspirational sports movies:
Coach Gary Gaines: Being perfect is not about that scoreboard out there. It’s not about winning. It’s about you and your relationship with yourself, your family and your friends. Being perfect is about being able to look your friends in the eye and know that you didn’t let them down because you told them the truth. And that truth is you did everything you could. There wasn’t one more thing you could’ve done. Can you live in that moment as best you can, with clear eyes, and love in your heart, with joy in your heart? If you can do that gentleman – you’re perfect!
I honestly felt PERFECT that day on that stage, with joy and love in my heart, among all The Beautiful People.
