Is it just me or does it seem like Halloween is equivalent to Christmas in that it is one of those holidays that literally seems to last all month long? From pumpkin patches to trick-or-treat play dates I feel like I have been celebrating this holiday ten times over already. It was exhausting. While worth all of the effort, I am happy it is has gone by.
What is not gone? You guessed it – candy. Sugary treats seem to be everywhere and while l I think I do a pretty good job at rationing it out to my son, I tend to find my hand in the candy jar a bit too often. The result, feeling sluggish and guilty.
I knew that it was time to keep an alternative on hand to kick that sweet craving and these chocolate chip frozen banana bites are just the ticket!
I have seen several frozen banana treat recipes that include chocolate flooding the internet and Pinterest. However, most were dipped or covered in chocolate and, to be honest, I feel like I might as well be indulging in that snack size Snickers that I just (begrudgingly) dropped from my tightly clasped grip right before I tore into that slick little candy wrapper paper.
These little bites contain far less calories but still pack a little chocolate punch that is needed – let me rephrase that, deserved, after I just denied myself that mini Snickers. And simple is the key – simply cut a banana in bite-sized slices and push one chocolate chip in the center of each. Pop them in the freezer and have a bite-sized sweet snack alternative on hand.
