According to WebMD, 45 million Americans suffer from chronic headaches, and of them, 28 million suffer from migraines. Frequent headaches can interfere with your daily life including: going to work or school, spending time with family/friends, and participating in activities you love. I personally have family members that suffer from chronic headaches and I see how painful they are, therefore, I take necessary steps to prevent them from happening to me. I believe in finding more natural ways to relieve and prevent ailments rather than taking over-the-counter medicine, which ironically have their own list of negative side effects (headaches being one of them). I am going to share with you the 7 tips that help relieve/prevent headaches.
Go to a Chiropractor. Find a good chiropractor, they locate and correct misalignments in your spine that are interfering with the ability of your central nervous system to keep you healthy. This nerve interference can be the cause of headache pain no matter what type of headache you have. A report released in 2001 by researchers at the Duke University Evidence-Based Practice Center in Durham, NC, found that spinal manipulation resulted in almost immediate improvement for those headaches that originate in the neck, and had significantly fewer side effects and longer-lasting relief of tension-type headache than a commonly prescribed medication.

Practice Yoga/Good Posture. Headaches can be caused by a variety of reasons like tension in your neck, tight shoulders, or back pain, and there are certain yoga poses that are designed to gently stretch and open those areas, while circulating blood to your head. Get a great workout & relieve your headache…sounds good to me!

Eat Healthy/ Avoid MSG. It is important not to skip meals to prevent hunger headaches ( I prefer to eat 5 small meals a day). Eat a well balanced diet and avoid flavor enhancers, such as mono-sodium glutamate (MSG).
Drink Plenty of Water. I read somewhere that nearly 75% of Americans do not drink enough water, and dehydration is one of the major causes of headaches. You can prevent/ relieve headaches by drinking the recommended 8 (8oz.) glasses of water per day.

Avoid Excess Caffeine. Sometimes caffeine helps curb headaches. In fact, many headache medications contain caffeine. But heavy daily caffeine use — more than 200 milligrams of caffeine a day (about two regular cups of coffee) — can cause headaches and irritability.–MayoClinic.com
Stop Smoking. Cigarette smoke contains carbon monoxide, a known headache trigger. If you are a migraine/headache sufferer (or not), think twice before you light up your next cigarette.
