Role models inspire us and allow us to visualize who we would like to be.  I wouldn’t have the passion for fitness that I have now without the inspiration and motivation I get from following my role models.

What makes a good fitness role model for women?  A role model should be someone who aligns with your personal beliefs when it comes to fitness, and is a positive example of what you want to accomplish.  Maybe it’s someone in the fitness industry, such as a fitness model or competitor.  Maybe it’s an athlete.  Or maybe it’s someone in your own life.

These are just a few of the women in fitness who inspire me.  Who inspires you?  Who is your fitness role model?

1. Fitness model/writer Jamie Eason is one of my favorite women in fitness!  Her story is inspirational, having survived a breast cancer scare in 2005.  Today she is one of the most recognized faces in the fitness industry, appearing in countless fitness magazines such as Oxygen and FitnessRX for Women.  She is also a spokesmodel for Bodybuilding.com and holds several fitness titles.  She appeals to me personally, because (quite frankly) she is short like me!  I also love how open she is about her faith, fitness, and trying to balance both.  You can follow Jamie on Facebook here.

2. Tosca Reno is the author of the Eat-Clean Diet series and has started what she calls the “Eat-Clean Revolution”.  At the age of 40, Tosca took control of her life and transformed her overweight and unfulfilled self into a strong, fit woman. 3. I consider Tracey Mallett to be my own personal fitness guru and role model, and I had the honor of meeting her in person last year!  Tracey is an International Fitness & Wellness Expert, Master Pilates instructor, author, and creator of The Booty Barre.  She owns her own fitness studio in Los Angeles and has her own line of fitness DVDs.  Tracey is also a wife and mom to two children, Amber and Ty.  Even with her crazy busy schedule, she somehow manages to balance it all.  She has made it her mission to guide and motivate women – especially other busy moms – to lose weight and get fit with simple, practical exercise and diet solutions.  Follow Tracey on Facebook here.
