I love to cook and cooking with my slow cooker is one of my absolute most favorite ways to make dinner. I’m a busy gal and if I can multi-task by cooking dinner while I’m out and about, it makes me incredibly happy. Because I use my slow cooker at least two (if not more) nights of the week, it was very hard for me to choose just 12 recipes to include in this list. But, I’ve narrowed it down and tried to come up with 12 yummy recipes that involve more than just adding some meat and a can-of-something soup to your slow cooker and calling it dinner. I hope you find at least a couple of recipes in this list to add to your dinner repertoire.
Veggie Soup via All Recipes: This is probably the most obvious of slow cooker meals and there are definitely probably twenty billion different ways to concoct this family favorite. My oldest son would eat this every night if I would let him and it’s a great way to sneak some good nutrients into my youngest who is incredibly picky. I change it up a little by adding corn and if you want to make your soup a little thicker, you can add your favorite spaghetti sauce to the mix.
Chicken Taco Soup via All Recipes: This is one of my favorites and I am in fact cooking this as I’m writing! It’s so easy and flavorful.
Slow Cooker Creole Black Beans and Sausage via All Recipes: When I was pregnant with my last son I craved Bahama Breeze’s black bean soup. I searched for a recipe and found this one. The BB recipe doesn’t have sausage in it but I like the Creole flavor it adds. Plus I serve this over a bed of rice and it’s so yummy you’ll feel like you’re walking in the streets of New Orleans.
Beef Stew via All Recipes: A good beef stew can make any day better. Serve it with dinner rolls and I promise there will be none left when your family gets a hold of this!
White Chicken Chili via Skinny Mom: This is a twist on your overdone chili recipe. Instead of a red soup, make it white! You may never go back.
Pot Roast via All Recipes: If you’re looking for a quick and easy slow cooker meal, this is it. I’ll make this when I don’t have a lot of time to prepare my meal. It has only four ingredients but can be doctored up if you want to. Combine it with carrots, onions and potatoes! (photo credit here)
Spare Ribs via Rachel Ray: My husband loves spare ribs but I must confess, they weren’t my favorite until I found this recipe! You’ll be adding it to your collection too, I promise!
Angel Chicken via All Recipes: This is my comfort food addiction kicking in here. You can definitely make some substitutions to make it a little more “skinny” friendly and it still tastes just as good.
Greek Style Flank Steak with Fat-Free Tzatziki via The Crockin’ Girls: I leave out the cucumber because my family isn’t a fan but other than that, this recipe is perfect! Serve it in pita pockets with your favorite fruit on the side!
Turkey Breast: This is the easiest turkey that you’ll ever make. It’s so moist!
