Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9x13 baking dish with 2 Tbsp of olive oil, and place it in the oven while preheating.
On the stove top, heat ¼ Tbsp of olive oil on medium-low heat. Add the diced onion and minced garlic. Stir frequently until onions are transparent, about 3 minutes. Remove from heat. Let cool, about 2 minutes.
In a medium size bowl, mix the turkey, egg, breadcrumbs, Italian seasoning and the cooled sauteed onion and garlic. Your hands work best.
Carefully remove the preheated pan from the oven. Using an ice cream scooper (if available), make 1-inch balls and place them evenly in the pan. Put meatballs in oven and bake for 30 minutes, or until brown, flipping them halfway through.
