- Never skip that pre-dinner salad. Not only is it a healthier option than many other appetizers, but the fiber in raw veggies will help fill you up and prevent you from overeating during the main course.
- Drink water in between meals. Guzzling H20 in between bites may actually cause sluggish digestion, according to Snyder.
- Eat fruit on an empty stomach or before meals, instead of after them.
- Take probiotics which can help prevent sugar cravings and may even get your skin looking brighter, says Snyder.
Snyder is also known for her detoxifying fruit and vegetable smoothie. Her clients are hooked on the drink, called Glowing Green Smoothie, and Snyder swears it can even reduce dark under-eye circles. (She also says it tastes better than you might think.)
Want to give Snyder’s drink a shot? She suggests having it for breakfast and again as an afternoon snack, for what she calls a “soft detox” (i.e. you can eat actual solid food for lunch and dinner). Here’s the recipe, which calls for all-organic ingredients:
In a blender, mix 1 1/2 cups water with 1 chopped head of romaine lettuce and 3/4 of a handful of spinach. Add 1 pear, 1 apple (core both first), and 3-4 stalks of celery. After it’s smooth, add 1/3 bunch each of organic cilantro and parsley (optional). Lastly, toss in 1 banana and fresh-squeezed lemon juice (use 1/2 lemon).
