My story: Where do I begin? It feels like my 43 years here on this earth has been a whirlwind filled with more than I could ever imagine. My husband, Donnie, and I have been married for 21 years. We have two gorgeous daughters that I’m so very proud of. We help run the family businesses, and I write for a couple of media sources. My hubs and I became interested in running because of our daughter’s dance schedule. We started out walking, and in a matter of a few months we were running our first half marathon! From that moment on, we were hooked. Now, running is a huge part of our lives. I really can’t imagine life without it.
Proud mommy of: Ashton, 19, and Grayson, 13. I can’t tell you how much I love them and how proud I am of them. Ashton is in her second year at the University of Oklahoma (BOOMER SOONER) and Grayson is in 8th grade and has aspirations of becoming a professional ballerina someday.
My favorite fitness product: Hands down, my running shoes. I don’t leave home without them.
If I could train with one person, living or dead, it would be: Meb Keflezighi. I so admire not only his running ability, but his strong work ethic, attention to detail, and positive mental outlook. He is such an inspiration for all of us.
If I could eat one food as often as I wanted without worry, it would be: Mexican! I love chips, salsa, and queso all day, anytime.
Three things on my bucket list are: 1. Run a full marathon (planning on checking that off in 2014). 2. Take my family to Rome. 3. Do the Amazing Race. My husband and I have been a fan since the first episode. Funny, now we would be considered the “older” couple!
My celebrity crush is: Shemar Moore from Criminal Minds. That show terrifies me, but because of him I can’t stop watching it!
Most played song on my workout playlist: “Paradise by the Dashboard Lights” by Meatloaf. This song is perfect when pushing through long run training days.
Last thing I read: “Racing Weight” by Mark Fitzgerald. This book is great for getting into peak performance shape for any sport.
My favorite quote: “She woke up one day and threw away all her excuses. Celebrate her accountability.” - Kobi Yamada
