Being a busy mom, I don’t always have the time to go and get a great workout at the gym. Working out 5-6 days a week is very important to me though. In the past few years, my home workout DVD selection has grown. I love being able to exercise the moment I need to and then go on with my day. The main ones I love are from Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper. It doesn’t matter how many times I do the workouts, it’s always a sweaty, heart revving experience.
Right now my hamstrings are completely like jello due to Bob’s “Body Rev Cardio Conditioning” DVD. I’m not doing as much running because of some knee pain. This workout made up for that though.
Bob makes sure to keep your heart rate up the entire hour. It is never boring though. You are working every muscle in your body. It challenges you, but is also fun; working out should be fun! If you feel like it is too easy, you can always pick up heavier weights. I started using 5 pounds, and now I am up to 12. I feel my energy increase, and even though I am not running as much, this helps keep my endurance where it was at.
The move he always goes back to is the squat. He changes it up by adding swings, suitcase swings, and deadlifts. Now you know why my hamstrings are so sore. There is also an extra 25 minute workout that incorporates most of the circuits from the first hour long workout. Perfect for when time is limited or to add to another workout.
I consider myself to be fit, and this workout pushed me to my limits. I love competition and felt like I was competing with the fitness models. It’s a great way to make sure you keep going.
