PART-TIME BOOKKEEPER/OFFICE ADMINISTRATOR

Skinny Mom, a digital publisher that focuses on healthy living for women, seeks a part-time (20 hours per week) bookkeeper/office administrator for their Cincinnati office. This person will report directly to the CEO and COO.

Responsibilities & Duties Include: (but not limited to):

  • Managing accounts payable and receivable
  • Bi-weekly payroll
  • Monthly account reconciliations
  • Maintaining accurate bank balances
  • Assist with processing accurate P&L’s, Balance Sheets and Cash Flow Statements
  • Office supply inventory and ordering
  • Answering phones and general email accounts
  • Special projects and duties as assigned

Experience:

  • Must have 2 years previous experience
  • Must be proficient in Quickbooks for Mac

Location:

 COPY EDITOR

Skinny Mom, a digital publisher that focuses on healthy living for women seeks a full-time, copy editor to copy edit and proofread high volumes of copy and assist with some administrative tasks. The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in English, communications, journalism
  • An excellent command of the English language—vocabulary/spelling and grammar
  • Ability to edit a high volume of copy quickly but thoroughly, and to handle continuous deadline pressure
  • Obsessive approach to proofreading—the desire and ability to find and fix mistakes and typos should be “in your blood”
  • Experience in copy editing for publications
  • Discerning judgment on how to edit copy to improve clarity, flow, etc., while still respecting the writer’s voice
  • Strong work ethic with a collaborative spirit and desire to be part of a hard-working creative team
  • Ability to write engaging headlines that are both sharable, sticky and good for SEO
  • Experience with web analytics and WordPress a plus

VIDEO EDITOR/DIGITAL MEDIA INTERN

Skinny Mom, a digital publisher that focuses on healthy living for women seeks a Video Editor/Digital Media intern. Opportunity available for Winter 2014. Interns are required to work 20 hours a week at our offices in downtown Cincinnati for a minimum of 10 weeks. This internship is unpaid.

Responsibilities:

  • Have the potential to deliver videos and photos that succinctly and clearly tell the desired story
  • Ability to deliver videos with cuts, graphics, sound & other elements that convey a quality production value and a level of technical sophistication
  • Experience with iMovie, Adobe Premiere and Adobe Photoshop
  • Knowledge of digital videography and photography cameras and equipment

Requirements:

  • An intermediate knowledge of video production and editing
  • Knowledge of video compression for interactive and online programs
  • Assist the digital team to plan, brainstorm and storyboard creative concepts for videos, including promotional campaign videos and internal videos
  • Assist in the end-to-end process from storyboarding to logistics to shooting to editing and publishing
  • Film video and shoot photographs in studio and field environments
  • Use existing original and stock footage to produce new videos
  • Contribute to mixing and editing to create polished and engaging videos
  • Publish videos primarily to the web and other social media channels
  • Ability to work with the equipment on-hand: Canon 60D (DSLR camera), mic, lights, white backdrop, tripod

Interns are required to work 20 hours a week at our offices in downtown Cincinnati for a minimum of 10 weeks. Editorial interns will work closely with members of the editorial staff in a fast-paced environment due to daily website content changes. While assisting in a wide range of projects, interns will gain hands-on experience and training in most aspects of editorial work. This is an unpaid internship.

Responsibilities:

  • Reading, evaluating, and reporting on submissions of website content
  • Editing articles and fact-checking
  • Researching current trends in fitness, food, fashion, and family
  • Creating titles for editorial submissions
  • Writing content for website
  • Creating content on WordPress

Requirements:

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented individual with an eye for detail
  • Knowledge of Skinny Mom’s content fields (fitness, food, fashion, family)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Efficient, proactive, on time, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Positive, encouraging attitude and ability to work as a team player
  • Computer literacy, particularly in a Mac environment

Responsibilities:

  • Share website content on Pinterest through ViralTag (a scheduling tool)
  • Write brief, engaging descriptions of website content to drive traffic to site
  • Research social media trends and execute those through all platforms
  • Research content to promote on platforms
  • Engage with social media audiences (fans and other pages)
  • Develop an understanding of Skinny Mom’s audience and competitors

Requirements:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Understanding of Pinterest, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, StumbleUpon & Linkedin
  • Solid understanding of the internet and social media marketing best practices
  • Positive, encouraging attitude and ability to work as a team player

FOOD STUDIO/CULINARY INTERN

Skinny Mom  is a digital publisher that gives moms “the skinny” on healthy living. Our goal? To develop and deliver healthy recipes to our community of moms. This internship is an opportunity to assist our skinny chef and get valuable real-world cooking experience in the Skinny Mom recipe kitchen. After all, there’s a big difference between studying something and actually doing it! Opportunity available for late Summer and Fall 2014. Interns are required to work 20 hours a week at both our offices in downtown Cincinnati and our offsite kitchen for a minimum of 10 weeks. This is an unpaid internship.

Responsibilities:

  • Actively seek inspiration for the development of Skinny Mom original healthy recipes
  • Food prep
  • Cooking
  • Cleaning
  • Food styling
  • Grocery shopping

Requirements:

  • Must possess an understanding of the culinary industry and food preparation
  • Good working knowledge of food and how it performs
  • Proficient in proper food handling and safety techniques
  • Must be able to follow directions and work efficiently in a deadline-driven environment
  • Understand that you will be part of a very small and close team and offer a helping hand wherever needed

  • Archiving and resizing files
  • Possibility to help with the production of any upcoming photo shoots

Requirements:

  • MAC user
  • Software: InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator (Video Editing is a plus, but not required)
  • Enthusiastic about design and typography
  • On time, meets deadlines and willing to help out with art department workload in any way she/he can
  • Must have a positive attitude
