Deliciously Simple Cheeseburgers

Prep time: 5 minutes

Cook time: 15 minutes

Yield: 4 servings

Serving size: 1 hamburger patty with slice of cheese


  • 1 lb lean ground beef (93% or leaner)
  • 1 Tbsp paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • ½ tsp ground cayenne pepper
  • 4 whole wheat hamburger buns
  • 4 slices deli-style reduced-fat cheddar cheese


  1. In a small bowl, mix together all of the spices.
  2. Add spice mixture to ground beef and using clean hands, mix spices with ground beef and shape ground beef to form 4 hamburger patties.
  3. Grill burgers over medium high heat until cooked to desired doneness.
  4. Optional: Top burgers with reduced-fat sharp cheddar cheese, tomato slices, and/or pickle slices. Serve on whole wheat buns.
