Get ready for your hubby’s new favorite dish. This chicken is slow cooked with beer for hours, and when it’s done, the moist and full flavor is out of this world good. This chicken is perfect for a busy school night served with our skinny slaw, green beans or skinny chipotle mashed potatoes.

Don’t worry about using the beer as you can’t even taste it and it won’t be harmful to the kiddos. Feel free to swap out other seasonings and use a different variation of beer.  We recommend using a hard apple cider beer like Wood Chuck® because the flavor is to die for.

Slow Cooker Beer Chicken

Prep time: 5 minutes

Cook time: High for 4 hours or low for 8 hours

Yield: 4 servings

Serving size: 4 oz chicken


  • 16-ounces boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 3-4 chicken breasts)
  • 12-ounce bottle of beer, like Woodchuck® Hard Cider
  • ½ tablespoon oregano
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes


  1. Place chicken in the bottom of slow cooker.
  2. Sprinkle oregano, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes evenly over chicken breasts.
  3. Pour beer to cover chicken.
  4. Place lid on slow cooker and cook on high for 4 hours or on low for 8 hours.
  5. Remove from slow cooker and shred before serving.
