The fast onset of heat here in the Vegas valley alerts me to my lack of fashionable apparel for the upcoming summer season. As a mother, I think we all know and relate to buying items for our kids before we buy for ourselves. No wonder why all my clothes are as old as my 3 year old, or more!
My solution and a my new rule: buy for me then buy for my kids. I guess I’m striving for some equality. I kill 2 birds with 1 stone by taking my lunch break at the mall across the street from work. Eat lunch, walk, shop – I’m fast and focused when I’m alone.
The stores I choose for my visit were the new flagship store for London’s Topshop, Forever 21, and Children’s Place. Forever 21 always has the fashion finds for less and Children’s Place has amazing deals and coupons which are sent to me via email almost daily.
I found that not only is this summer’s fashion neon bright colors but a throwback to the 80s. I really felt like I took a time machine back to 1983 when I walked into these shops. Thanks goodness I can appreciate that decade.
I burned tons of calories walking the stores and lifting my bag o’ clothes. I walked away with some pretty sensational outfits and super cute clothes for my kids. I also walked away with my first Las Vegas t-shirt, and my first pair of jeggings. I swore I would never buy a pair, and I did.
Feeling inspired by all my cool purchases, I took the plunge and bought some fun accessories. I hardly ever accessorize and it’s something I’m personally working on. I can be such a plain jane sometimes. For a $10 bargain, I bought 2 necklaces; a trendy gold owl locket necklace and a turquoise beaded number.
Under $250 later, I ended up with 5 outfits for myself, accessories, 3 outfits for my daughter, and 1 outfit for my 3 year old. Cheers to kicking of the summer right!
