So the summer is half way over and before you can even think about heading out to do your back to school shopping, you first have to clear some space! We’ve all been there. The sorting through of the outfits and toys that you swear you just bought your child, and yet to your complete disbelief, they have outgrown nearly everything. So this year instead of piling up the trash can, why not gather up those items and actually make some money while also being a part of a great cause?
Rhea Lana’s of North Cincinnati is hosting their “Back to School” event July 31-August 2. What is Rhea Lana’s you ask? Rhea Lana’s is a consignment event that originated in 1997 with 11 consigners and three racks of clothing in a living room in Conway, AK. Over the past 14 years however, the business has grown into a semi-annual event that now takes place in 16 states nationwide!
What makes Rhea Lana’s different from most consignment shops is that the consigner is actually in control. Whether you choose to be present at the event or post your items through their website, you make the decisions. You decide how much you would like to sell your items for; you decide if you wish to lower that price near the end of the event, and once the items are sold, Rhea Lana’s pays their consigners 70% of their sales! That’s 20-30% more cash in your pocket than the other consignment shops offer.
“We appreciate the time our moms take to prepare their children’s clothing and bring it to our event” says Rhea Lana’s of North Cincinnati co-owner Courtney Wayne. She says Rhea Lana’s mission is, “to serve local families with love and integrity, by providing them with the most inviting, excellent and valuable consignment experience ever!”
If the ability to showcase the control freak inside of you while making money in the process weren’t enough, Rhea Lana’s also offers their consigners a way to give back to the community. Each consigner is given the opportunity to donate unsold items at the end of each event. These items are then delivered to the Healing Center in Springdale, OH and given to local children and families who are less fortunate. “Rhea Lana’s is very focused on serving local communities,” Wayne commented. She added, “It is our goal to serve the community by giving back… and we are so proud to be a part of helping our community in this way.”
So quickly ladies, before the day slips through your fingers; go and gather up those items just taking up space in your little one’s room. From clothing to toys, to books and furniture, and even maternity clothes, Rhea Lana’s will gladly take it all off your hands! And remember, whether you’re rolling in the green after the event or graciously chose to donate your items, you can end the summer knowing that you have provided some local family with brand new treasures to begin the school year!
