Saturday, May 4, 2013 is a day I will always remember. It’s the day that I placed Top 5 and won third place in the ’13 GNC Southern Colorado Armed Forces Championships. I spent 12 weeks prepping for this competition, but years dreaming about it. It felt so good to be on that stage for the first time in a bikini after giving birth to three kids, including twins!

It was so much hard work, but it was well worth it. I discovered so much about myself during this journey. I learned I had to let go and let in God. I needed to learn how to yield to him and fully submit everything to him even my dreams. I truly believe God will give you the desires of your heart once you relinquish control.

I have been humbled by this experience because I know for a fact it wasn’t my strength that got me here. I had so many challenges while prepping for this competition like the weather, schedules, and gaining support. Everything kind of just came together and flowed once I put it in God’s hands.

Those days I had to run sprints in the bitter cold mornings really challenged my will. I knew I had a passion inside me that was greater than that cold weather and that challenge. I now sit here affirmed that, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” I feel tremendously blessed for the weight gain struggles I have gone through, because they have shaped me and made me more than a conqueror today. I now have a trophy that proves you don’t have to over diet, take diet pills, and do tons of cardio to lose weight. I am living proof!
