I truly believe in what Fracie Larrieu Smith once wrote “The most important factor for motivation is goal setting. You should always have a goal.”

I have carried those words with me every step along the way with building Skinny Mom. I had a goal and still do, to bring women in all walks of motherhood together to share and learn from each others experiences on how to live a healthy and happy life. That is pretty much how the website started and I remind myself everyday of this goal as I move forward. Yes, I will be the first to admit that it has been hard, somedays I want to pull my hair out, sometimes I feel overwhelmed, and there have been sometimes when I wander if I can continue on, but I always come back to my goal and am always motivated to get back to work and press on.

Your goal may not be to build a website or have anything to do with fitness but I encourage you to think about what it is that you are passionate about and set a goal for yourself. Motivation to change and motivation to move forward comes from thinking with the end in mind. For example if your goal is to run a marathon, it will be much easier to wake up at 6:00 AM for a run, if your goal is to advance with your job, it will be much easier to put in the extra hours, if your goal is to lose 50 pounds, it will be much easier to give up soft drinks and so on…

Bottom line, without a goal or plan it is going to be really hard for you or anyone for that matter to find the motivation to get moving and stay focused. I encourage all of you to make a goal for yourself and get motivated to work towards it today. I would love to hear about any goals that you have made for yourself and if you have reached them…hit me up at [email protected]
