Elf on a Shelf has got to be one of my favorite parts of Christmas! Not only does my daughter look forward to waking up each morning to find where her Elf is, but I really like doing “my part” of it as well. This year, we are living with my in-laws and there are a lot more places and spaces for Frankie (as we refer to him) to “play” in. In the past, our Elf has been somewhat tame – hiding on the mantel, sitting in the window, peeking out of the Christmas tree. Now that Frankie (and my daughter) is a year older, I feel it is only appropriate that he get in to a bit more trouble. Or, shall we say – mischief.

On the first morning Frankie showed up, he had a nice note for my daughter, along with a cute little coin purse. {NOTE – Our elf rarely brings a “gift”. Since it was the first appearance of the year, I felt that a $2 coin purse would be okay.} He was sitting calmly at the top of the steps, with a bit of a smirk on his face, if I do say so myself. After the excitement of his arrival died down a bit, my daughter looked at him and said, “Hmmm…Frankie…I think you might be a bit of trouble this year. Yep. Trouble just like me, with a capitol T.” Well, at least she knows she isn’t an angel all the time!

The next morning, here is what we woke up to. Not too terribly bad – but definitely a little naughty. Frankie is a big fan of Taylor Swift’s new song, so I’m pretty sure that’s what he is up to with that iPod in his hands! {The iPod was NOT a gift from Frankie.}
