A friend of mine shared such a sweet idea with me for the fall. This was posted in Blue Manatee Children’s Bookstore & Decafe. If you live in Cincinnati, and haven’t been, you have to check it out because your little kids will love it!

PLANTING A RAINBOW

In early fall, take your empty box to the garden center, and buy the following bulbs:

  • red emperor tulips
  • orange emperor tulips
  • yellow daffodils
  • blue hyacinths
  • purple crocuses
  • green leaves (in spring)
Carry the bulbs home in your box. Prepare soil, plant your bulbs (before fall frost), and water. Wait for spring to come. Soon you’ll see a growing rainbow!
I know it’s a little late, but this is a must-do with your kids next fall! They will love the project and it will give them a sense of what it is like to care for something and watch it grow.
Happy Spring!!
