It was a typical morning at my house, which meant the normal chaos of getting two kids ready: breakfast, teeth brushed, clothes on (no, you can’t wear THAT!), homework checked, backpacks ready, shoes on (repeated at LEAST five times before the shoes are actually on the feet), and finally out the door.
I dropped my oldest son off at school and headed to Starbucks with my little guy in the backseat. I was preoccupied with stressing about upcoming events that are out of my control as I waited in the drive-thru line. I placed my order, pulled up to the window, and that’s when it happened. The barista said “You’ve been blessed with a random act of kindness today. The person in front of you paid for your order.”
Such a simple act, but it turned my day around!! It put a smile on my face and made me realize how lucky I am to live in a world where people can still surprise you with their kindness. Needless to say, I paid it forward.
It’s amazing how the little things can make such a big difference. Offering to watch a friend’s kids while they run errands, sending a note to someone who is going through a hard time just to let them know you’re thinking about them, or simply buying a cup of coffee for a stressed out mom.
Try going out and committing a random act of kindness today. You’ll be surprised how one little gesture can make someone’s day so much better!
