Confession: I really don’t like it when people stare at me. It makes me nervous. I always think there must be something on my face, or something is wrong with my outfit, or just something NEGATIVE. So when Skinny Mom offered a list of dares for the Roxy Dare Yourself Challenge, I chose “do yoga on the beach” for a couple of reasons. One, because here on Skinny Mom, I’m known as “South Carolina Beach Babe” so I wanted to represent my name and area, and two, because it would help me step out of my comfort zone. I’d undoubtedly have onlookers walking by while doing this (and Sullivan’s Island, SC was full of people walking their four-legged friends on the particular sunny Sunday morning I chose to complete my dare). But, at least this time I knew people were staring at me for a POSITIVE reason. Maybe it was the yoga, but I was feeling totally zen and happy and knew these Roxy clothes looked great!
The best part of my dare was getting to wear my new Roxy Outdoor Fitness gear. I have thoroughly enjoyed the pieces in this collection. I only have a few of the items in the collection, but let me tell you, after viewing their look book, and now being able to try out a few of the pieces for myself, I WANT THEM ALL. I have been a longtime Roxy fan and they certainly did not disappoint me this time either. This collection is a solid fitness collection. The pieces are moisture-wicking, light fabric in amazing bright colors as well as some neutrals for those of you that aren’t into bold colors. They were comfortable, fit just right and stayed in place all throughout my workouts (and you know I did more than yoga in these – they are my new go-to’s for running, barre classes and strength training!)
So here’s the skinny on the pieces I have:
My absolute favorite have got to be the Hot Competition Shorts. That’s saying a lot because I’m normally a pants girl when it comes to workout clothes. My upper legs are my “trouble zone”, but these shorts are actually super-flattering, and I love the bright color I chose. My next favorite piece had to be the Everyday Yoga Pants. They were a perfect fit. I’m fairly tall at 5’8″ and sometimes have trouble finding pants that are the right length for me. They are so comfortable, I literally want to wear them EVERYDAY – they couldn’t have come up with a better name for them. The Spin Sports Bra is a great sports bra. It was flattering, but definitely held the girls in place. I’m on the larger side in the chest area, so it’s important for me to have good support. I love the style of the back as well. This bra will get you through any type of workout. The last item I chose was the Pull Rank Bag because I was in need of a new gym bag. This one is not only super-cute, but it has all the compartments I need. It even has a separate compartment for my gym shoes, which is so nice because who really wants their sweaty gym shoes touching everything else in their bag? I use the open side slot to stick my workout journal in and the front zip pocket for my keys. The bag is not too small and not too large – perfect fit for the gym locker. I’ve gotten so many compliments on it!
So who’s ready to join me and dare yourself to participate in some public yoga? If you have a beach, that’s where you need to go; but I know not everyone has that opportunity so find a park, field, lakefront – whatever you got! Find me on Twitter (@morgalicious483) if you want to follow along and/or tweet me about your dare.
