I know it is still technically summer, and I have been enjoying my iced green tea, but I am so looking forward to cooler temperatures and hot tea. Since I am not an avid coffee drinker, I have found that tea is my best cool weather drink. I adore the stuff in every different kind there is. I have even switched from sugar to either honey or Splenda, so honestly it is a fabulous drink with barely any negatives and about a million positives!

Here are just a few:

1 – Tea has antioxidants, which can slow down aging as well as aid in cell renewal and repair.

2 – Teas, such as black teas, can help to lower cortisol levels in the body, which lowers stress!

3 – Since tea is basically water, it keeps you well hydrated. And since there are so many different kinds of teas, H2O never has to be boring again!

4 – Tea can also aid in digestion, and as we all know, a healthy digestive track means a healthier weight.

5 – Tea also has the ability to help raise immunity levels… which we Mama’s need to keep up with our little ones.

These are only a few of the amazing benefits of tea and how it can help keep you healthier. Another amazing fact to keep in mind about tea is that it is naturally lower in caffeine than coffee and other caffeinated beverages. However, be careful when looking at the decaffeinated teas, because some brands use chemicals to decaffeinate them which makes them less healthy for you because the chemicals strip out the good polyphenals. So as long as you aren’t drinking gallons of tea a day, try not to worry about the amount of caffeine in your tea. I happen to be a bit of a tea snob and can spend an hour looking and tasting the different teas in our local tea store and I happen to adore loose leaf tea because the flavor is just more intense.
